About Blow Horn

Creating wearable art with purpose, from recycled fabrics to empowered futures.

Our Story

Founded by Anna, Blow Horn was born out of a deep commitment to making a positive impact on both the environment and underprivileged communities. At Blow Horn, we believe in the power of fashion to change lives, and every piece we create tells a story of resilience, creativity, and hope.

Vision

Blow Horn envisions a brand that, through fair wages, empowers underprivileged communities by offering employment. By combining printed fabrics with recycled materials, we aim to minimize waste and breathe new life into clothing that might otherwise end up in a landfill.

mission

Our mission is to support local cooperatives that work with displaced people, offering a range of limited-edition wearable art. By reviving second-hand clothing and combining it with recycled fabrics, we strive to create as little waste as possible while providing stability and empowerment through employment.

Challenge

The challenges faced by refugees in Greece are immense. Blow Horn prioritizes creating opportunities for these communities, laying the foundation for a sustainable, self-supporting future.

Meet the Founder

Anna-Lee Ramsurrun

Anna has been living in Athens, Greece, since 2018. She grew up in a rural part of Wales to a Mauritian father, which gave her an appreciation for nature and her Indian roots that has always been apparent in her art. When the refugee crisis hit UK headlines in October 2015, Anna came to Greece for the first time. She volunteered on the islands of Kos, Leros, and Chios, and she was on the Greek mainland when the country’s borders closed in early 2016, leaving 5,000 people sleeping rough at the Port of Piraeus. People were drowning daily, and we all had a responsibility to do something. In 2018, Anna made Athens her full-time residence. She set up a charity running art workshops in refugee camps with women, children, and teenagers.

In Greece, Anna also embarked on the road to recovery from addiction. Learning to create art without narcotics took years of practice. During that time, Anna facilitated hundreds of art workshops with groups of kids in extremely challenging environments. Watching the children create was enlightening. Anna realized that, before sobriety, her art had been painful, perfectionist, controlled. There was no fun in it. Kids influenced her new artistic style. It was simple, fun, flowing—and sober.

Our Process

At Blow Horn, every piece is a labor of love, crafted with care from recycled materials and transformed into wearable art. Our process begins with sourcing high-quality, second-hand clothing and fabrics. These materials are then reimagined and combined with printed fabrics to create our limited-edition collections. The result is a unique piece that not only looks beautiful but also carries a story of empowerment and sustainability.
